Rainforest Trip Australia

Southern Cross University organized a trip to the Australian rainforest.

TWENTY STUDENTS, Jenny Wright (driver) and I woke up to a soggy Saturday morning with the rain coming down. To the credit of the students, they all showed up ready for their rainforest adventure.

We arrived at Minyon Falls and went for a short walk on the upper track and, because of all the recent rain, the students were impressed with the falls.

We then went for a walk along the base of the rainforest which was a special experience as it was raining; the students said they felt like they were in some sort of Jungle movie. We scrambled over the rocks and down into the base of the falls.

Most of the group took the opportunity to swim for the first time in the icy water under a waterfall and the weather held out for us.

After we had finished our walk we went to Rocky Creek Dam for lunch, but unfortunately the weather was not as kind to us this time and just as we got our picnic laid out the heavens opened.

A quick dash to the shelter and we ate our pita bread watching the rain come down and listening to the cockatoos screech.

Back onto the bus and we went to Bangalow for a quick look at the town. After some refreshments, we were back on the bus and on our way home.
